The Ninety Day Test

with Dana Whitfield and Callum Reyes

Dana Whitfield had been advising clients for over a decade before she started a podcast, but she was skeptical it would actually generate business rather than just being another item on her marketing checklist. She gave it ninety days to prove itself, with a clear standard: if it didn't produce at least one qualified conversation with a prospective client, she'd shut it down.

We treated those ninety days as an experiment rather than a launch. Every guest was chosen specifically from Dana's existing network of adjacent advisors — people who already had client overlap with her but weren't direct competitors. Callum Reyes, a wealth management consultant serving a similar client profile from a different angle, was the fifth guest booked under that model.

The conversation with Callum led to something neither of them expected: he began referring clients who needed exactly Dana's specialization, something a formal referral partnership might have taken months to establish organically. By day seventy, that single relationship had already produced two client introductions.

The ninety-day test passed well before the deadline. Dana's show now runs on the same principle that proved itself in that first quarter: fewer, more deliberately chosen guests, evaluated on relationships formed rather than episodes published.
